When I purchase products, I'm generally the one that goes for a good deal, albeit I expect quality. Looking at my options for something that would be effective in helping my body maintain alkalinity, I found these. So far they are doing what they claim to be doing for me and on the plus side they are very inexpensive. Gotta love those beans! Reading the reviews, I almost declined as one person mentioned they were horse pills. I've had no problem at all with them. To me they are average size.
I've been thinking about how great it would be to never have to buy store bought conditioner again. So I decided it was high time to make some whipped shea butter to see what kind of alternative this would be for me. I made it in bulk quantity because I wanted it to double as a skin conditioner. I've got to tell you, since I've been using coconut oil as my facial moisturizer on my face, every time I reach for the store bought shampoo it makes me a little sick knowing that it is doused in chemicals and lacking any real benefit. Working on that shampoo alternative..but since I've been deep conditioning my hair with coconut oil about once a week, I've been using less shampoo. When I take a bath I just add about three drops of lavender and one drop of orange essential oil and I figure that is getting into my hair as well.
Now getting to the recipe here
6 ounces shea butter
4 ounces coconut oil
I used the double boiler method to heat up the shea butter..
my method: Boil some water in a pan then turn off burner..place the shea butter in a large metal bowl over top of it to warm it up then add the coconut oil. mix it up.. Put in the freezer for 5 minutes..then take out.
add 1tsp lavender essential oil (or whatever you prefer)
also added 5 drops peppermint oil and 6 drops lemongrass essential oil
whip with a electric beater then place back in the freezer for 5 minutes
then take out and whip again..the consistency should be like whipped cream when done.
For this batch I can smell the lemongrass as the top note. Yummy!
I was very skeptical about adding algea to my diet. But after reading the claims of being a super food I thought I would give it a go. What could it hurt right? After years of abusing my body with processed foods, its time to get real. So I ordered me a 1 pound bag at the same time I purchased some turmeric, cayenne pepper, and granulated garlic. So yesterday morning, I dared to put a couple teaspoons of this in my smoothie. I threw together a handful of raspberries, a banana, a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt and added some coconut milk. To my surpise it was absolutely delicious and has quickly become my favorite smoothie. Yes I made it again this morning! This is about as green as I have gotten with my smoothies. Well I did add celery the day before making this, but that put a dent in my tastebuds. Adding this chlorella was a delightful surprise. I can even sneak this power pack of goodness into my daughter's food without her noticing if I can mask the green tinge. I'm on it! Begin by infusing the cayenne into the olive oil over a double burner.
heat the oil and cayenne until it
is warm, turn off the heat and let it sit for about 20
minutes, then turn the heat on again.
do this for at least one hour to a couple of hours, you could do it for 24 hours if desired.
Once the cayenne and olive oil have been infused, strain off the powder through a cheesecloth. Reserve the infused oil.
Heat the beeswax until it is
melted. Stir in the infused oil until the beeswax and oil have been
thoroughly melted together and combined.
Immediately pour this mixture into jars or tins. (Makes roughly 4 ounces).
Let it cool and then label it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2955392163792835763.post-26411278969114709912013-02-06T07:02:00.002-08:002013-02-06T13:24:54.236-08:00Pain Relief Soak1 cup epsom salt
